As a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Notre Dame, I aim to understand the philosophical underpinnings and historical genesis of modern and contemporary medicine, especially in relation to the biomedical sciences.

Prior to coming to Notre Dame, I obtained a Ph.D. in Divinity from the University of Aberdeen. I study the interrelation of natural philosophy and literary theory in early Greek-speaking Patristic authors.

I was initially trained as an MD./Ph.D. at Charité Medical School/Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, with my subsequent medical career divided between experimental research in transplant immunology (at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School) and clinical work in anatomic pathology as well as nephrology.
